WIS (Wireless Interface Serial) The 60 Second Securitel Replacement

It will take you longer to get your ladder off the roof of your service van than it will to replace your Securitel with the WIS. We struggle to call the Surepoll WIS a Securitel replacement because it is actually a major enhancement. Once again Shaun Cronin and his clever team at Sec.Eng System have come up with the goods and ticked all the boxes for us.

  • Wireless GPRS Polling between the Surepoll WIS and the Monitoring Centre with security and management exceeding any other solution on the market
  • Polling between the Surepoll WIS and the Security alarm panel at 3 times the rate required by class 5 of the standards
  • GSM Backup
  • Enormous saving compared to the old technologies and new technology Securitel replacements
  • Unplug the old plug in the new
  • Plug and Play to GE Challenger
  • Plug and Play to DAS NX (585)
  • Plug and Play to Crow and other panels shortly
  • $399 for the WIS but if you are a member you get a $100 rebate at $299
The Surepoll WIS was connected live from the HILLS and GE stands at the show.

The WIS was connected live from a few stands at the show. DAS were showing off their new code pad for their NX range (Very Impressive) and connected to the serial port of their NX585 board was the WIS reporting live over the Surepoll Wireless Network back to the CAMS Demonstration Monitoring Terminal at the Suretek stand. GE also had the WIS up and running on a Challenger and we, of course, had the WIS operational also on a challenger.

There is about a dozen new features on this clever device one of which we displayed was the signal strength demo. Any technician knows it is often a drama to place a GSM/GPRS device in the same area or even inside existing alarm panels and get perfect signal strength. This is one function we have really focused on. Whilst Darling Harbour has a strong GSM coverage from all Telco's we were unplugging the antenna and demonstrating the WIS showing full signal strength. We have also done this out in the field during our testing and have the same results.

The WIS currently meets AS2201.5:2008 and we are currently in the process of third party certification to be in line with the 30th of January deadline for monitoring centre grading requirements.
